Experience HLAA! will present highlights from an HLAA Convention in a new online format. While we will miss the networking, personal connections, and support we gain from attending an HLAA Convention, by joining on your devices June 18 and 19, we can be together virtually, and learn about the latest in research, technologies, and services to assist people to live well with hearing loss.

The Latest on Tinnitus Research Symposium sponsored by Cochlear Americas is a main feature of Experience HLAA!. Covering cutting-edge scientific topics relevant to adults with hearing loss, the Research Symposium has been a staple of the HLAA Convention since 1994.

This session on tinnitus will include talks by top scientists and clinicians who will tell us what tinnitus is, what causes it, what is available for treatment and management, and how researchers are thinking about future treatment and prevention. Commonly described as ringing in the ears, tinnitus can also sound like roaring, clicking, or buzzing. These symptoms are indications that something may be wrong in the ear and a possible sign of hearing loss.

While anyone can develop tinnitus, older adults, military personnel and veterans, people who work in loud work environments, and musicians are particularly at risk. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that millions of Americans have a moderate to severe form of tinnitus
